A little bit of my story…
I found my interest in graphic design while in high school, taking engineering classes of all things. My engineering teacher incorporated Photoshop lessons into the curriculum to fill some time before finals and then she told me about her side hustle selling shirts made with a Cricut and heat press. As we got into 3D design and isometric drawings, my brain quickly learned how to build figures from basic geometric shapes.
Eventually, my friends started asking me to design different shirts and stickers for them, I bought my own Cricut and mini heat press, and decided to seek a degree in marketing with a minor in graphic design.
Over the years, I have untrained my geometric brain enough to allow room for my art to be more organic, but I’m pleased with how far geometry took me. I was always better at math and never took proper art classes until I was in college. I believe my history with engineering and math has inevitably led me to gravitate toward layout and print design. Nothing pleases me more than finding the sweet spot where all the pieces of a layout click into alignment.
My story of an odd creative upbringing reminds me there is no one clear path and we all have our own adventures to explore and share with one another!
